Armed robber invades Kalama Valley home

By Vicki Viotti
Advertiser Staff Writer

Undeterred by the wild weather, a masked robber armed with a shotgun broke into a Kalama Valley residence early this morning, bound the three family members and ransacked the home.

The suspect was described as 5-foot-7, about 160 pounds and in all black garb: ski mask, T-shirt and shorts.

He is being sought on three counts of kidnapping and one count each of first-degree robbery and burglary.

Police said that at 1:30 a.m., the suspect opened an unlocked sliding glass door in the rear of the home, located at 1164 Kaeleku St. The family awakened, and the robber then confronted the parents, both 54, and their 18-year-old son.

The suspect then ordered the family to lie on the floor and bound them with duct tape. He went through the house and took a pearl necklace, a wedding ring and various bank cards.
