Entertainer Melveen Leed is recuperating at home today, following her release yesterday from Castle Memorial Hospital, where she spent two nights after suffering a mild heart attack Tuesday at the burial of her fellow Local Diva Loyal Garner.
"I'm fine now, with the help of family," Leed said. "I just wanted to go home. But from the hospital, I went straight to Loyal's grave to bring flowers."
Leed was grief-stricken at the Monday funeral at Kawaiaha'o Church and at the Hawaiian Memorial Park burial for Garner, who died Nov. 15. The stress triggered what doctors termed a myocardial infarction, a mild heart attack caused by an apparent blocked artery.
"I'm taking medication and will get some rest," said Leed.
Doctors have given Leed the green light to proceed to return to the stage when the Local Divas present "This One's for You, Loyal," a holiday tribute concert postponed to 7:30 p.m. Dec. 19.
Tickets remain for the concert. Call 922-4422.
