UH baseball will hold two camps in December

New University of Hawai'i baseball coach Mike Trapasso and his staff are offering two speciality camps in December.

A pitching/catching camp for players ages 10-18 will be held Dec. 27-28, and a hitting camp for players ages 8-18 will be held Dec. 29-30. Both camps are at Rainbow Stadium.

Each camp costs $110.

The UH staff will be assisted by high school coaches and professional scouts. Instruction covers all phases of the game. The camp consists of drills, lectures, demonstrations, video reviews and conditioning techniques.

The camps run from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. with registration on the first day of each camp starting at 8 a.m. Campers are grouped by age and skill level. Each camp is limited to 200 participants.

GOLF

• Azinger joins Lehman in Sony Open Challenge: Paul Azinger will join Tom Lehman in the Sony Open in Hawai'i/First Hawaiian Bank's PRO-JUNIOR Golf Challenge at 3:30 p.m., Jan. 8 at the Waialae Country Club.

The Challenge, which replaces the Johnny Bellinger SHOOT-OUT, will feature six PGA Tour pros and six Hawai'i state junior golfers in a six-hole event.

Azinger won the Sony Open in Hawai'i in 1999.

The Sony Open in Hawai'i will be held Jan. 7-13.


BASKETBALL

• BYU-Hawai'i 84, Alaska Anchorage 78: Alexus Foyle scored 27 points and grabbed 12 rebounds as Brigham Young-Hawai'i defeated host Alaska Anchorage.

Scott Salisbury added 13 points, 13 rebounds and eight assists for the Seasiders.

BYUH improved to 4-2. Alaska Anchorage dropped to 0-4.

• Hawai'i Pacific 65, Saint Martin's (Wash.) 61: Nick Walters scored 16 points, Nash Subotic added 14 and Nick Spajic 12 as Hawai'i Pacific defeated Saint Martin's at Lacey, Wash.

Saint Martin's was 0-for-13 from 3-point range.

HPU improved to 3-2. Saint Martin's dropped to 1-4.

• Hawai‘i-Hilo 63, San Francisco State 61: Derek Mgbeke and Kyle Bartholomew scored 15 points apiece as Hawai‘i-Hilo edged San Francisco State, 63-61, at UHH gym.

Hilo improved to 4-2. San Francisco State dropped to 2-3.
