Advertiser Staff

The University of Hawai'i soccer team lost to No. 6 California, 4-0, yesterday at Berkeley, Calif., leaving the Wahine winless in a three-game road trip to Northern California.

All-American junior Laura Schott led California with a goal and an assist.

The Bears (8-1) outshot the Wahine 33-2. Wahine goalkeeper Jennifer Churchill made a career-high 11 saves.

The Wahine defense held the Bears to one goal in the first half, allowing 12 shots.

Hawai'i dropped to 3-5.

Hawai'i's Arlene Devitt received a red card in the 59th minute, leaving her unavailable to play in Hawai'i's next match, its Western Athletic Conference opener at Tulsa on Oct. 12.

After Devitt was ejected, the Bears scored two goals with the player advantage.
