The McInerny Foundation has donated a total of $180,000 to various Hawai'i social service organizations to help them with an increased community need resulting from the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks.
The foundation gave grants of $37,500 each to the Hawai'i Foodbank, Catholic Charities, the Institute for Human Services and the Salvation Army. The foundation also gave $10,000 each to the Kaua'i Foodbank, the Maui Community Foodbank and the Office of Social Ministry for the Hawai'i Foodbank. The grants were unsolicited.
The foundation is also setting aside 10 percent of its $3 million to $3.5 million budget for a humanitarian emergency relief fund, said Paula Boyce, grants administration officer for Pacific Century Trust, which administers the foundation.
