Schuler sales up 24 percent

Schuler Homes Inc. said yesterday that 1,308 new-home sales closed in the fiscal quarter ended Sept. 30, an increase of nearly 24 percent over the same quarter last year. New orders fell 2.8 percent, to 1,340, compared with 1,378 the previous year.

Results include all the operations of Western Pacific Housing, which merged with Schuler Homes in April. For the fiscal year to date, Schuler has closed sales of new homes, compared with 2,115 the same time last year. New orders increased 6.3 percent to 2,749, from 2,585. The company will release financial results Oct. 25.
