The September 11th attack
Memorial for terrorist attack victim Michael Collins

Advertiser Staff

A memorial service is being held today in Upper Montclair, N.J., for Michael L. Collins, missing since Sept. 11 in the terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center.

Collins, 38, was born in Sleepy Hollow, N.Y., and intended to retire in Hawai'i. He was the husband of Lissa Lee Collins of Wahiawa.

He and 700 of his coworkers at Cantor Fitzgerald, a securities company, were among those believed to have been killed when the World Trade Center towers collapsed. He had worked for 15 years at Cantor Fitzgerald. He was a manager in the firm's eSpeed unit and had been a vice president in the firm's U.S. Treasury bond brokering service.

In addition to his wife, Lissa, whom he married in 1997, Collins is survived by his parents, James and Mary Collins; his brother, Richard; his sister, Nancy Collins Kasak and the Lee family of Oahu.

The service is at 2:30 p.m. today at The Presbyterian Church of Upper Montclair. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to American Diabetes Association or the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.
