Fairy tale comes to life on 3 stages

By Zenaida Serrano Espanol

You can see two famous fairy-tale lovers come to life in the Honolulu Theatre for Youth's latest production, "Beauty and the Beast," 1:30 and 4:30 p.m. on Oct. 13 at Diamond Head Theatre; Oct. 21 at Kennedy Theatre, University of Hawai'i-Manoa; and Oct. 28 at Ron Bright Theatre, Castle High School.

The play, geared toward children age 7 and up, was written by Seattle playwright Bret Fetzer and directed by Mark Lutwak. Although it is a new version of a classic story, its message is still about the power of inner beauty and true love.

Tickets are $10 for adults, $7.50 for students with high school or college I.D., and $5 for children ages 3 to 12 and seniors over 60. Children 2 and younger are admitted free but require a ticket. The sign-interpreted performance is 4:30 p.m. Oct. 28. For information or to order tickets, call 839-9885.
