Achievers

Arielle Jessel of Kailua, a student at Loyola Marymount University, received a $1,000 scholarship from ConSern Education Program, which provides education loans and services to corporate employees and their extended family members as an employee benefit.

Dawn Kang of Mililani, a student at the University of California-Berkeley, received a $1,500 scholarship from Unity House Inc. Kang was also awarded first place among 32 entries for UC-Berkeley's College of Environmental Design's Bakewell & Brown and Bakewell & Weihe Prize and received a $400 cash award.

Good Beginnings Alliance awarded continuing educational scholarships worth about $2,000 each from the Teacher Education and Compensation Helps (TEACH) Early Childhood Hawaii program to the following teachers in licensed early childhood programs: Jodi Hata, St. Clements School; Stacie Lynn Myers, Nu'uanu Baptist Preschool; Melanie Pine, Central Union Preschool; Mele Silsby, Kaimuki Christian Preschool; Jennifer Ueno, First Baptist Church of Hale'iwa; and Michelle Wofford, Kama'aina Kids-'Ewa. Other recipients included the following licensed family childcare providers: Donna Howard and Darron Spencer, both of Wahiawa; and Pragya Pandey, Honolulu.

Prince Kuhio Hawaiian Civic Club awarded $1,000 scholarships to the following students: Edward Akana, Jared Chun, Tiffany Coelho, Channa Dudoit, Darlaine Dudoit, Kimo Jarret, Natalie Ho, Harriet Juarez and Shanelle Sanborn, all of University of Hawai'i-Manoa; Robyn Bachini, University of California-Santa Barbara; Tiare Larsen, University of North Dakota; Prudence Hokoana Gormley, UH-Hilo; Montique Kalilikane, Leila Sanchez Albijino and Sheri Yamaguchi, Hawai'i Pacific University; Kaoi Lundin, Evergreen State; Shaun Kaanoi, Hanover; Megan Naumu, Brigham Young University-Hawai'i; and Pristine Torres, University of Nevada-Las Vegas. Kaui Chung of Kapi'olani Community College received a $500 scholarship.
