BYUH tennis wins three titles

Brigham Young-Hawai'i tennis players won three of four championships at the ITA West Regional tournament yesterday at Davis, Calif.

Jan Krejci won the men's singles and doubles titles.

He defeated teammate Peter Madarassy, 6-1, 6-3, to win the singles title, then teammed with Madarassy to take the doubles title, 8-3, over J.R. Villaroman and Seamus Sullivan of Cal Poly-Pomona

In the women's singles final, Adrienn Hegedus defeated BYUH teammate Amy Sun, 7-5, 6-3.


CROSS COUNTRY

• Wahine win in Oregon: Cheryl Smith of the University of Hawai'i cross country team won the Willamette Invitational (5K) yesterday at Salem, Ore., with a time of 16 minutes, 56.33 seconds.

The Wahine won the four-team invitational with 42 points, beating out last year's winner, Oregon (43).

Casey McGuire-Turcotte was the second Wahine to cross the finish line, placing sixth overall with a time of 17:41.50.
