Savovic top pick of draft

All-Western Athletic Conference guard Predrag Savovic was the No. 1 choice in a draft of players for tomorrow's Coors Light Midnight 'Ohana intrasquad scrimmage at the Stan Sheriff Center.

The Hawai'i men's team will be split into two teams for the scrimmage, which will begin shortly after midnight (Oct. 13 is the first date Division I teams can officially begin practice).

Savovic will play for the Green team, which will be coached by KFVE television broadcasters Jim Leahey and Artie Wilson, and UH assistant Jackson Wheeler.

The White team will be coached by KCCN radio broadcasters Bobby Curran and Jeff Portnoy, and UH assistant Scott Rigot. The White team's top selection was guard Carl English.

Festivities will begin around 9 p.m. tomorrow with carnival games on the arena concourse. Player introductions for both the men's and women's teams will begin around 11:45 p.m.

Green: Predrag Savovic, Mark Campbell, Mindaugas Burneika, Paul Jesinskis, Nkeruwem Akpan, Joshua Stanhiser, Lance Takaki, Dan Pickart.

White: Carl English, Haim Shimonovich, Phil Martin, Mike McIntyre, Luc-Arthur Vebobe, Milos Zivanovic, Ryne Holliday, Wade Butler, Brandan Ross.
