Waikiki hotels plan New Year's Eve shindigs

ALL ABOUT EVE: Ku'uipo Kumukahi, Olomana, O'Brian Eselu and Danny Couch form "Lei Na Hoku," the New Year's Eve bill of fare at the Royal Hawaiian Hotel's Monarch Room. Brickwood Galuteria will host the event (the title translates to "lei of stars") and lead the countdown to the new year.

The hoopla, however, won't be a cheapie. The cost is $255 per person ($225 for kama'aina), includes the show, a five-course meal, open bar and party favors. And yes, that spectacular view of Diamond Head is an extra amenity. Call 931-7194 to reserve space ...

Sister hotel Sheraton Waikiki will also continue its Hawaiiana Eve, "Ho'omaka Hou," with The Makaha Sons, Robi Kahakalau, Kapena, Brother Noland, Kanilau, Moe Keale, Nalani Keale, and Tony Conjugacion on the roster. Billy V and Randy Hudnall will emcee. The meal package ranges from $225 to $200, which include a buffet dinner, beverage and champagne, or $85 for show-only. Call 922-4422 ...
