Roosevelt shuts down Kalaheo, 27-0

Corey Higa scored on a 99-yard pass play from Chris Mols, and Mols connected with Jerry Perreira on three second-half touchdown passes last night to lead the Roosevelt High School football team to a 27-0 victory over Kalaheo at Kailua's field.

The Rough Riders improved to 5-2 overall, 5-1 in the O'ahu Interscholastic Association's White Conference. Kalaheo fell to 3-4, 3-3.

Mols completed 17 of 31 passes for 313 yards, without an interception. The 99-yard touchdown, with 10:57 remaining in the half, came after Roosevelt had stopped the Mustangs on four plays from the 1.

The Rough Riders made three interceptions in the second half to preserve the shutout.

• Kaiser 24, Waialua 3: David Chu scored on a 9-yard run and threw a 16-yard touchdown pass to Marc Esteban as the Cougars jumped to a 21-0 first-quarter lead and cruised to victory over the host Bulldogs.

Chu completed 18 of 36 passes for 226 yards.

•'KAPA'A 41, KAUA'I 14: Brothers Dustin and Byron Mundon combined for three touchdowns to lead Kapa'a to a victory over Kaua'i in a Kaua'i Interscholastic Federation game at Vidinha Stadium Friday night.

Dustin Mundon rushed 13 times for 61 yards, including touchdowns of 3 yards and 1 yard in the third quarter. Byron Mundon scored on a 2-yard run in the fourth quarter.

Kaua'i quarterback Kamo'i Refamonte scored on touchdown runs of 4 and 3 yards. Refamonte also completed 10 of 19 passes for 146 yards.

Kapa'a is 1-2 in the KIF. Kaua'i is 1-3. Waimea (3-0) was idle this week.
