Islanders are proudly displaying their patriotism and pride in being American with everything from USA-emblazoned baseball caps and T-shirts to rhinestone flag pins and red, white and blue belt buckles.

Now local manufacturer Reyn Spooner makes it easy to wear your pride on your sleeve with "Commemorative Quilt 2001" shirts. The print features flags and other Americana on Spooner Kloth.

Available while supplies last. When the current fabric run is pau, that's it. In sizes XS to XXXXL for $65 ($68.50 for XXXL and XXXXL) at Reyn's Ala Moana and Kahala Mall stores, and online at www.reyns.com.

Exercise for a cause

Raise money for your child's school while you exercise. That was the thinking of 360 students, parents and teachers from Ma'e Ma'e Elementary School, who came out en masse for the Niketown 5K two weekends ago. They raised $5,000 for new physical education and playground equipment.

"They had this opportunity to help themselves, and they put a lot of effort into recruitment," said Keala Peters, marketing manager for Niketown Honolulu. Though Ma'e Ma'e was the leader, checks are in the mail to many public and private schools on O'ahu.

"We were so happy to see so many kids out, running and being active, and it was even better knowing that all of their entry fees would go back to the schools for their play equipment," Peters said.

Nearly 3,000 runners and walkers raised $45,000 for their designated schools, up from $36,000 last year.

Music by phone, jack

www.audiotron.net
Don't underestimate the phone line in your house. It could be music to your ears.

At least, it will be if you have an Audiotron, the latest digital music server to deliver MP3 sound throughout your house. Except this time, there's a new feature — Internet radio.

The Audiotron by Voyetra Turtle Beach uses your existing phone line computer network, an increasingly popular and easy way to network your home, to pipe MP3s and streaming Internet radio stations to any room with a phone jack.

Audiotron is a sleek, thin, black stereo component box that hooks up to your phone jack and to your receiver (alternatively, you can hook it up directly to a set of speakers).

You can listen to hundreds of Internet radio stations that can be pre-selected through the Audiotron Web site.

This is a stereo addition that doesn't come cheap, listing for $300.
