Motorcyclist killed in crash

WAIMEA, Hawai'i A 24-year-old South Kohala man died at the Queen's Medical Center Monday morning after his motorcycle collided with a car on Kawaihae Road.
The collision was reported at 4:12 p.m. Sunday when a Harley Davidson motorcycle operated by Jason Phillips of Waimea crossed the center line and collided head-on with a 1994 Honda sedan, said Sgt. Samuel Jelsma of the Hawai'i County Police Department.
Phillips, who was not wearing a helmet, was thrown from his motorcycle and suffered head injuries. He was flown to the Queen's Medical Center on O'ahu, where he was pronounced dead at 8:05 a.m. Monday. The driver and only occupant of the Honda, Lorna Lorenzo, 29, of Honoka'a, was not injured.
