HPU enrollment increases again

Advertiser Staff

Hawai'i Pacific University has a record number of students this fall — its 29th-consecutive year of enrollment growth.

Total enrollment at HPU's downtown, Windward and satellite campuses grew to 8,902 students, said Nancy Ellis, HPU vice president for student support services.

Much of the growth came in the number of graduate students. The university's nine graduate programs saw a 5 percent increase over last fall's enrollment numbers. The greatest percentage gains were in students pursuing master's degrees in communication, teaching English as a second language, diplomacy and military studies and nursing.

The number of international students fell slightly, and the number of students coming from the Mainland increased 4 percent.
