UH men's volleyball team plays alumni Friday

The annual University of Hawai'i men's volleyball alumni match is 7 p.m. Friday at the Stan Sheriff Center.

The 2002 men's volleyball team features AVCA National Player of the Year Costas Theocharidis, Dejan Miladinovic, Eyal Zimet and setter Kimo Tuyay. Alumni team members include Torry Tukuafu, Sivan Leoni, Erik Pichel and Aaron Wilton.

An all-alumni match will be held at 5 p.m.

Tickets are $6 for adults and $3 students/senior citizens, and can be purchased at the Stan Sheriff Center Box Office.


TENNIS

• Hawai'i fourth: A women's team from O'ahu finished fourth out of 34 teams at the USA League Tennis 3.5 Adult National Championships at San Diego.

Hawai'i lost a third-place match to a team from Louisville, Ky., 3-2.

The team was captained by Gaye Fujimoto and members were Laura Yee, Sonnie Koko, Leigh Daida, Stephanie Higa, Edna Gomez, Sandy Nakashima, Donna Mosier, Karen Hamaguchi, Enriqueta Tahilan, Brynn Joliffee and Renni Matsumoto.


SAILING

• College championships: University of Hawai'i freshman Bryan Lake races this weekend at the ICSA Singlehanded North American Championship at Toronto.

Lake is the first sailor to represent Hawai'i in the championships since John Myrdal and Morgan Larson in 1994.

Lake qualified by placing second at the PCIYRA Men's Singlehanded Championships on Sept. 22-23.

Last weekend, the Hawai'i co-ed team finished second at the PCIYRA Pacific Coast Sloop Championships. USC won the regatta.
