The September 11th attack
Anthrax calls keep fire crews busy

By James Gonser

The Fire Department's Hazardous Materials Unit responded to 15 calls of suspicious powers or chemicals on O'ahu yesterday bringing the number of calls since last Friday to 84, according to Capt. Richard Soo, fire department spokesman.

Most of the calls yesterday were from homes, but fire crews were also called to check on a powdery substance found in the men's room near the center stage at Ala Moana Center, and another at Sears.

Residents continue to worry about anthrax contamination, but the deadly bacteria has not been found in Hawai'i, Soo said.
