Halau marks its 25th year

Na Pualei O Likolehua, a halau led by kumu hula Leina'ala Kalama Heine, is marking its 25th anniversary this year. Its annual fund-raiser, "Na Lani 'Eha," at 1 and 5:30 p.m. Nov. 11 at St. Louis School's Mamiya Theater, will be the halau's fifth concert and will commemorate the silver anniversary.

The halau will honor ali'i of the past, including King David Kalakaua, Queen Lydia Lili'uokalani, Princess Miriam Likelike and Prince William Pitt Leleiohoku.

The program will also feature:

  • Halau Na Mamo O Pu'uanahu, with kumu hula William Kahakuleilehua Haunu'u "Sonny" Ching.
  • Halau O Ke 'A'ali'i Ku Makani, with kumu hula Manu Boyd.
  • Halau I Ka Wekiu, with kumu hula Michael Nalanakila'ekolu Casupang and Karl "Veto" Baker.
  • Robert Cazimero, of The Brothers Cazimero.
  • Louis "Moon" Kauakahi, of the Makaha Sons.
  • Kala'i Stern, formerly of 'Ale'a.
  • Glenn Smith, of Ho'okena.
  • Keao Costa, falsetto singer.
