Fun House
'I want the clean rice, Mama!'
By Julie Michels, Waipahu
One afternoon, my husband and I informed our 22-month-old daughter that we'd be meeting with Auntie Emily. When she approached Emily, little Tiffany cheerfully greeted her with, "Hi, Enemy!"
The following month we decided to phone her grandparents, Chuck and Jo, in Alaska. When asked what her grandma and grandpa's names are, she confidently replied, "Chuck and Cheese!"
Two weeks later, we were heading to the Campbells' home when she exclaimed, "I'm going to the Camel's house!"
Last week, I offered her some dark brown rice. She stared at my bowl, hesitated and said, "I want the clean rice, Mama!"
