The opening ceremony is at 4 p.m. Dec. 1, with children's entertainment on the municipal lawn. The Christmas tree lighting festivities begin at 6 p.m., followed by the annual Electric Light Parade at 6:25 p.m. and the actual lighting of the tree at 6:30 p.m.
The huge Christmas tree in front of Honolulu Hale is the centerpiece of the annual holiday lighting extravaganza.
A holiday concert will start at 7:30 p.m., with the roster of performers still to be announced.
Santa Claus arrives at 7:30 p.m.
Honolulu Hale, at 530 S. King St., will house the usual display of decorated trees and wreaths. And the downtown streets encircling the city hall, on Alapai, Beretania, Bishop and King Street, will be aglow in bright holiday finery. Depending on your whim, you can enjoy the display on foot, by car, or by trolley, which generally operates during the holiday season.
Admission is free.
