Willoughby top national player, again

University of Hawai'i volleyball standout Kim Willoughby was named American Volleyball Coaches Association/Sports Import National Player of the Week for the second time this season.

Willoughby, a sophomore outside hitter from Napoleon-ville, La., averaged 8.25 kills, 4.08 digs and 0.33 blocks per game while hitting .451 as Hawai'i defeated San Diego State, San Jose State and Fresno State last week.

Willoughby had a Western Athletic Conference record 43 kills in a five-game victory over San Jose State.

Willoughby, who also was named WAC Player of the Week of the third time, was National Player of the Week on Sept. 24.
