Congressional members accepting mail in Hawai'i

Hawai'i's congressional members are urging residents to write to them at their offices in the Prince Kuhio Federal Building because of security concerns in Washington.
Mail delivery to congressional offices was suspended Oct. 12 after an anthrax-laden letter was discovered on Capitol Hill. Any mail sent from Hawai'i as of Oct. 4 will not reach the congressional delegation until at least Oct. 29.
All Senate and House offices were closed last week, and only one of six buildings has reopened. House leaders were hoping to begin reopening their buildings today.
As a result, no mail is being delivered, and all calls are being forwarded to offices here. Mail sent since Oct. 5 should be faxed or resent to the local offices.
"The staffers are all over the place. Logistically it's a nightmare," said Alan Furuno, aide to Rep. Neil Abercrombie.
The following local addresses should be used to write to the Hawai'i delegation:
Sen. Daniel Inouye, 300 Ala Moana Blvd., Room 7-212, Honolulu, HI 96850. Phone: 541-2542.
Sen. Daniel Akaka, 300 Ala Moana Blvd., Room 3-106. Honolulu, HI 96850. Phone: 522-8970.
Rep. Patsy Mink, P.O. Box 50124, Honolulu, HI 96850. Phone: 541-1986.
Rep. Neil Abercrombie, P.O. Box 50143, Honolulu, HI 96850. Phone: 541-2570.
