Motorcycle crash proves fatal
A 24-year-old Pearl Harbor serviceman who was injured in an Oct. 18 motorcycle crash on Nimitz Highway has died, police said.
The serviceman died at The Queen's Medical Center on Tuesday, police said. He has been identified as Joseph A. Cooper by the city medical examiner.
Police said they believe that the serviceman was speeding and driving under the influence of alcohol when his motorcycle crashed on Nimitz Highway.
A witness said the man executed a "wheelie" just before he lost control of his 2001 Suzuki 750 motorcycle just west of the Pacific Street intersection.
The motorcycle fell and the man was thrown. He suffered head, torso and leg injuries, officers said.
The motorcycle rider was wearing a helmet, according to police.
