Individuals or groups who help prevent substance abuse and violence in Hawai'i through awareness, education or action may be worthy of a 2002 Ola Pono Award.
"We see the Ola Pono Awards as an opportunity to perpetuate the goodwill within the community," said Alicia Maluafiti, HMSA spokeswoman.
Nominations are now being accepted for the awards, which stand for "live right" and honor those in the community who are doing outstanding work to make Hawai'i a healthy, drug-free place to live.
Nominators need to fill out a nomination form, and in two pages or less, describe why the nominee deserves to win. The deadline is Nov. 15. For more information or to request a form, call (800) 845-1946 or visit www.hmsa.com.
