BYUH defeats HPU; Hilo tops Chaminade

Dan Xu had 23 kills and Ashley Moeai 17 last night to lead Brigham Young-Hawai'i to a 30-27, 26-30, 30-20, 30-16 Pacific West Conference women's volleyball victory over Hawai'i Pacific last night at Cannon Activities Center in La'ie.

Brigham Young-Hawai'i is 8-5 in the PacWest and 12-6 overall. HPU is 10-3 and 16-3.

Roberta Robert led HPU with 17 kills.

In another PacWest match, Sara Pilgreen had 15 kills to boost host University of Hawai'i-Hilo to a 30-20, 30-23, 19-30, 30-18 victory over Chaminade.

UH-Hilo is 3-8 in the PacWest and 12-13 overall. Chaminade is 3-8 and 6-13.

MEETINGS

• Quarterback Club: George Lumpkin, University of Hawai'i football associate head coach, will be a speaker at the Quarterback Club tomorrow at the Pagoda International Ballroom.

Joining Lumpkin are UH offensive line coach Mike Cavanaugh and Senior Olympics/ Aloha State Games director Mark Zeug.

Lunch ($7) will be served at 11:30 a.m., followed by the program at noon.
