Kailua ponders landfill option
A recent suggestion to make Kapa'a Quarry into a landfill has prompted the Kailua Neighborhood Board to consider the proposal at its next meeting at 7 p.m. Thursday at the Kailua District Park Multipurpose Room.
The board is expected to take action on the issue and will most likely oppose it, said Faith Evans, Kailua board chairwoman.
Another board member first heard about the suggestion at a Leeward meeting on the subject of landfills, Evans said.
The board will also hear about dengue fever and anthrax from the state Department of Health.
Other issues on the agenda are Kapa'a Quarry Road, a group living facility and the invasion of coqui frogs on O'ahu.
