A 42-year-old man was rescued yesterday after he was blown off a Hobie Cat in Kane'ohe Bay.

The man was sailing with another man when he was blown off the boat shortly after 4 p.m. His companion was unable to retrieve him. They were about two miles off of Mokoli'i Island (Chinaman's Hat), said HFD Capt. Richard Soo.

The man in the water was wearing a life jacket and he had a cellular phone in a plastic bag. Soo said the man called for help, and at 4:45 a fire rescue specialist made contact with him.

The man was lifted onto a fire helicopter and taken to the He'eia Kea pier, where he was found to be in good condition.
