Air Canada announced yesterday that it will increase capacity between Hawai'i and Vancouver with the introduction of twice-daily service between Honolulu and Vancouver, and five weekly flights between Maui and Vancouver starting Nov. 30.
The increases will boost the airline's offerings to 21 round-trip flights per week between Vancouver and Hawai'i, more than double the capacity it offered last winter.
The new daytime Honolulu service will use 421-seat Boeing 747 aircraft; the Maui service will use 198-seat Boeing 767-200 aircraft.
"The new Hawai'i-Vancouver service is about giving customers what they are telling us they want more flights between Hawai'i and Canada as well as the convenience of daytime service to allow for intra-island connections," said Patrick Khoury, the airline's senior director of passenger sales for the United States
"The new Hawai'i service also strengthens Honolulu as a strategic connecting hub for our Pacific network," he said.
Earlier last month, Air Canada announced the introduction of three-times a week Toronto-Melbourne service via Honolulu. With the introduction of the Melbourne route effective Nov. 30, Air Canada now operates 10 weekly flights between Canada and Australia via Honolulu.
Air Canada becomes the only carrier to provide nonstop service between Hawai'i and Melbourne.
