Archery

Sept. 15 — Traditional Tournament. At Puu Kapolei Archery Range. Recurve and longbows only; no sights allowed. Registration 7:30-8:30 a.m. Fee: Adults $20, $15 for 18-under. Information: Keone Hong 676-4778.


Basketball

Sept. 10 — Men's Open League. At Mililani District Gym. Games played Monday and Thursday nights. Fee: $350. Information: Mark Talaeai 226-6985.

Oct. 5-7—4th annual HI-PAL 8-under Basketball Jam. At The Boys and Girls Club, Hilo. Format: pool play. Tournament limited to first 16 teams in East Hawai'i, and first 12 in West Hawai'i. Information: HI-PAL office 961-2219 or 961-2220 in East Hawai'i or 326-4276 in West Hawai'i.


Biathlon

Sept. 16 — 6th annual Sand & Surf Biathlon Ocean Swim & Run. At Kailua Beach Park. 1-mile swim & 5-mile beach run. Check in: 6-6:45 a.m.; race starts at 7 a.m. Entry fees: adults $20/team $40; children $15/team $30. Entry deadline: Sept. 9. Late entries will be accepted with $5 late fee. Entry forms available at Nu'uanu YMCA, McCully Bike Shop, The Running Room, Triathlete, Sports Authority, Safeway, Kailua District Park Swimming Pool, UH Duke Kahanamoku Aquatic Complex. Bowling

Sept. 2 — Hawai'i TV Bowling, Seniors' and Women's Singles. At Kalihi Bowl. Qualifying 9 a.m. TV taping at 12:30 p.m. Fee: $60 pre-pay or $65 walk-in. Free admission. Information: Scot 571-0956 (pager).


Dancing

Through-Nov. 3 — YMCA Hip Hop Dance Classes. At West O'ahu Family YMCA, Mililani. Keiki (grades 3-7), beginners (Teen/Adult), and intermediate (Teen/Adult) classes offered. Fee: keiki and beginners $70/10 classes; intermediate $105/10 classes. Information: Scott Gillespie 625-1040 ext. 242.


Football

September — Waikele Wildcats midget tackle football. Open for athletes ages 13-15. Weight limits are 90-140lbs. Games begin mid-September. Practices held Monday-Friday 4:30-6 p.m. at the Waikele Playground. Information: Phil Nasca 456-8693.


Running

Sept. 9 — Barbers Point 20K Run. A Mid-Pacific Road Runners Club race. At White Plains Beach, Kalaeloa. Race starts at 6 a.m. Fee: $5 non-members. $2 for members of MPRRC. Information: 295-6777.


Softball

September — Novice and "D" Division Slow-pitch teams. At Kanewai Field. Fee: $275 per team. Games Tuesday and Thursday evenings. Information: Glenn 947-6814; Mike 735-1241, evenings.

Sept. 9, 16, 23, 30 — Softball Agility & Conditioning. Learn plyometrics, basic fundamentals, eye-hand drills and many more. Open to all ages. Fee: $125. Information: Dane Shimabuku 735-1196.

Oct. 7 — The MYTH Youth Foundation Softball Tournament. Kapi'olani Park softball fields. First 8 teams. Four games minimum. Format: single elimination pool play. Fee: $200. Information: Jacky Buder 782-2776 or Stan Mahelona 227-7826.


Volleyball

Sept. 8-Nov. 3 — West O'ahu Family YMCA Adult Co-ed Volleyball League. At West O'ahu Family YMCA Mililani Branch. For men and women ages 18-older. Fee: $20 per person; $180 per team of nine. Information: Scott Gillespie 625-1040 ext. 242.


Wrestling

Sept. 14-16 — Chertow Clinic. At University of Hawai'i-Hilo gym. Former Olympian Ken Chertow will conduct a three-day clinic for boys and girls in 7th through 12th grades. Needed
