Woman biker dies in van collision

A 50-year-old Michigan woman was fatally injured yesterday while on a bicycle tour down Haleakala on Maui.

Kathlyn Bartos crossed the center line of Baldwin Avenue near Paia and collided head-on with an oncoming van, police said.

Paramedics took Bartos to Maui Memorial Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

The driver of the van wasn't injured.
