Elderhostel Program at the Honolulu Academy of Arts, opens registration for Hawai'i residents and nonresidents, 55 years or older, for three sessions: Oct. 28-Nov. 3, Feb. 10-16, 2002, and March 10-16, 2002. Program includes gallery talks, slide lectures and field trips focusing on the art of Asia and the Pacific. $400 fee for residents, which includes meals, lectures and field trips, but no hotel accommodations; $658 for nonresidents or those needing accommodations. 532-3666.


DOCENT TRAINING

Mission Houses Museum announces a six-week, 12-session docent training program to be held 10 a.m.-noon Mondays and Wednesdays, Sept. 17-Oct. 24. The cost is $75, which includes museum membership. Call Jessica to enroll: 531-0481.

The Bishop Museum trains volunteer guides. The 10-week classes teach Hawaiian culture and the history of the museum's artifacts. Tuition is $300 with some assistance available. 848-4180.

The Honolulu Academy of Arts conducts interviews for Japanese language speakers interested in training as docents. Applicants must speak English and Japanese fluently and have an interest in art and culture. For application: 532-3666.
