Culinary Calendar

TOMORROW

"MAUI CHEFS PRESENT ...," opening event of "A Taste of Lahaina," 6:30-10 p.m., on the upper lawn of the Lahaina Special Events Arena. The outdoor gala, with the theme "2001 i A Culinary Odyssey" i will feature dishes prepared by 12 Maui chefs, entertainment, a silent auction and an open bar. Tickets: $95 (tax included). FRIDAY

"A TASTE OF LAHAINA," a culinary festival showcasing new and popular restaurants in Maui County, 5-10 p.m. Friday and Saturday, Lahaina Special Events Arena. Also featuring cooking demonstrations, a beer garden, farmers market, wine tasting, keiki games and continuous entertainment. Proceeds from the festival will benefit 12 Maui youth organizations, including school and cultural groups, and soccer teams. Admission: $2 (keiki 6 and under free). (808) 667-9175.

SATURDAY

"L' Italia Il MIO AMORE" (Italy My Love), a tribute to the food and wine of Italy, 6-10 p.m., Hawai'i Ballroom, Sheraton

Waikiki Hotel. The event, a benefit for the Hawaii Lupus Foundation, kicks off the 12th annual Honolulu Wine Festival. The grand wine tasting will feature Italian wine and cuisine prepared by Sheraton Waikiki executive chef Daniel Delbrel. Tickets: $55 in advance, $65 at the door. GUILLERMO TELLEZ, chef de cuisine at Charlie Trotter's, Chicago, will be at the Ihilani Restaurant at the Manele Bay Hotel, Lana'i, Sept. 15-16, to showcase his talents. THE COMPLEAT KITCHEN will be celebrating its 25th anniversary with two weeks of events, Sept. 16-30, at the shops at Kahala Mall and Ala Moana Center.
