OF LOCAL INTEREST:

"Finding My Way," 7 p.m., Oceanic Channel 16 (repeats 6 p.m. Sunday). Daniel Ho's new CD makes its TV debut, with a video by Andrea Tukuafu.

TONIGHT'S MUST-SEE:

"Revenge of the Whale," 7 p.m., NBC. As a boy, Nathaniel Philbrick didn't get the standard bedtime stories. His dad was a professor who gathered sea tales. "He would tell us the story of the ship that was rammed by a whale," Philbrick recalls. Nantucket is filled with memories of maritime disasters. The most stunning was that one of the Essex, sunk by a whale in 1820. Digging into memoirs and more, Philbrick wrote "In the Heart of the Sea." Now NBC News has turned this story into a richly crafted documentary. There was the indecisive captain and the over-decisive first mate. There were the men who resorted to cannibalism — then were welcomed home almost casually.

"Goodwill Games," 8 p.m., TNT. Here are the figure-skating finals for men. There might be more attention, however, on track. After a relay race, sprint champion Michael Johnson plans to retire.

"Encounters With the Unexplained," 8 p.m., Pax TV (Oceanic channel 27, Americast channel 3). This show starts its second season by asking: Why wasn't more done to prevent the Pearl Harbor attack?
