Eight arrested in drug bust on Big Island

HILO, Hawai'i Big Island police busted a suspected "ice house" Friday morning in Hilo and arrested eight people on drug charges.
Hilo Vice and Community Policing officers served a search warrant on the house and recovered an ounce of crystal methamphetamine, an ounce of dried marijuana and paraphernalia that included packets, scales and pipes. They also recovered a 22-caliber rifle and $1,160 in cash.
They arrested Dwayne Silva, 42, of Hilo; James Asuncion, 26, of the Ainaloa subdivision in Puna; Donovan "Manu" Hanohano, 44, of Hilo; Cedric Pulgados, 37, of Hilo; Duke Malakaua, 28, of Hilo; George Camarillo, 49, of Hilo; James Kaauwai, 37, of Hilo and Vincelyn Mehau, 42, of Papaikou.
All were charged with seven counts each of promoting dangerous drugs and four counts each of possessing illegal drug paraphernalia.
