State Health Department receives honors

The state Department of Health has been nationally recognized for its work with children and youth with mental illnesses.
Georgetown University and the National Technical Assistance Center for Children's Health have chosen the department's Child & Adolescent Mental Health Division as one of five national participants for a policy academy that will examine how to build better systems of care.
The Child & Adolescent Mental Health Division also has been recognized by the nationally acclaimed Florida Mental Health Institute of the University of South Florida.
Hawai'i has been selected as one of five exemplary sites.
The health department's methods will be used to develop national models for other states to follow.
