SCHOOLS

• Public schools on Army bases remain closed today but are expected to reopen tomorrow. Those include Hale Kula, Solomon, Wheeler and Shafter elementaries and Wheeler Intermediate.

• Other public schools on military bases will reopen today. That includes Hickam, Mokulele, Iroquois Point and Nimitz elementaries.

• Co-curricular activities at public schools have been canceled through Sunday. Football, cross-country and volleyball activities, as well as other student events and activities are included.


AIRPORT

• Honolulu International and airports on Neighbor Islands are closed this morning, and it was uncertain whether they will open later today. Travelers should not go to any airport unless they have official information that flights have resumed and they have a confirmed seat. Aloha Airlines, American Airlines, Hawaiian Airlines, Japan Airlines and Korean Airlines have canceled all flights for today.

• The state Department of Transportation has asked that when flights resume, passengers check in three hours before their scheduled departure time to allow for extra security measures.


FERRY SERVICE

• Sea Link has started a Honolulu to Maui ferry run while the flights to Neighbor Islands are shut down. The fare is $75. The ferry departs from Pier 9 at 7:00 a.m. and noon. Call 808-667-2585.


TRAFFIC

• Expect continued delays near military bases as security identification checks continue.

• The ZipLane beginning today will remain open until 9:15 a.m. until further notice. Vehicles with at least two occupants will be able to use the

ZipLane from 7 to 9:15 a.m. weekdays. From 5:30 to 7 a.m., vehicles entering the lane must have three or more occupants.


MILITARY BASES

• Military and civilian employees at Army and Navy installations should report to work. Fort Shafter and Schofield Barracks commissaries will open, but post exchanges will remain closed until further notice. Army shoppettes and gas stations reopened yesterday.


BLOOD BANK

• Donors should call 845-9966 on O'ahu or (800) 372-9966 for an appointment. The Blood Bank of Hawai'i Dillingham and downtown donor centers will stay open two extra hours through tomorrow, from 6:30 a.m.-5 p.m.

• Basic requirements: Good health; 18 or older; at least 110 pounds; valid photo ID.


AMERICAN RED CROSS

• The American Red Cross will accept money from those wishing to help victims of the terrorist attacks.

• Checks may be sent to the American Red Cross at 4155 Diamond Head Road, Honolulu, HI 96816. Checks should be made payable to "American Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund."

• Contributions may be made to the American Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund by calling 1-800-HELP-NOW or (800) 435-7669. People also may call 739-8105 or may contribute through www.redcross.org


MEMORIAL SERVICE

• An interfaith memorial service at the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific will be held at 6:30 p.m. Free shuttle bus service from the Neal Blaisdell Center will be provided beginning at 5 p.m. from the Ward Avenue side, with free parking at Blaisdell.


INTERNET ACCESS

Public libraries will waive the requirement of a state library card for Internet access through Saturday, so that local residents can use e-mail and go online to check on the status of friends and family on the Mainland. Stranded travelers may also use the library to communicate with their families. The access is free on a space-available basis. To find out where the nearest library is, call 831-6878.

• The Hawai'i Community Foundation has established "The September 11th Fund" to support victims in partnership with local community and financial institutions. The fund is in conjunction with Aloha United Way.
