Wahine to play Sacramento State

Advertiser Staff

A long Thanksgiving layover in California has created an opportunity for the 12th-ranked University of Hawai'i Wahine volleyball team to fill one of the pukas created by this week's canceled matches.

UH announced yesterday it will play at Sacramento State on Tuesday, Nov. 20.

The Wahine play in the revived Western Athletic Conference Tournament the previous week (Nov. 15-18) at San Jose State. They are in the Bankers Classic, at Stockton, Calif., Nov. 23-24. UH planned to stay in California in the interim.

The Hornets are 5-3 this season, with losses to WAC members San Jose State and Fresno State.

The Wahine's next matches are against 20th-ranked Santa Clara, next Friday and Saturday (Sept. 21-22).

This week's matches, against Loyola Marymount (tonight) and 13th-ranked Brigham Young (tomorrow) have been canceled.
