WILLIAM "BILL" B. ELSTON, 89, of Waipahu, died Sept. 11, 2001. Born in Cleveland, Ohio. A golfer and bowler. Survived by wife, Irene; son, Halford; two grandchildren; five great-grandchildren. ANTONE "TONY" GONZALES, 80, of Kailua, died Sept. 8, 2001. Born in Honolulu. A retired federal blacksmith and judo and aikido professor. Survived by sons, Gene, Zack, Moses, Matt, Abe and Billy; daughters, Rona Wilson, Toni Ukishima, Pat Kahapea, Jo Anne Medeiros, Margaret Gordon and Sunny Kaapana; 29 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; brothers, Jimmy, Ray and Manny; sisters, Josephine Maunawai and Kathy Raber. ANTONIO CASTILLIANO ISRAEL, 91, of Honolulu, died Sept. 6, 2001. Born in the Philippines. Member of American Rifle Association and Mililani Senior Center. Survived by stepsons, Paul and Herman Troche; 12 grandchildren; great-grandchildren; great-great-grandchildren. LILLIAN "NONA" MERCADO, 65, of Jacksonville N.C., died Sept. 15, 2001. Born on Maui. Survived by husband, Herbert; daughters, Cindy Taylor and Norma "Dorie" Gallagher; sons, Herbert "Kimo", Richard "Dan" and Olson; sisters, Angeline Workover, Elizabeth Therrien and Cynthia Sauers; brother, Andrew Manoa; 10 grandchildren. JOAQUIN P. SILVA JR., 70, of East Bernard, Texas, died Aug. 20, 2001. Born in Wahiawa. Retired from the U.S. Army. Survived by wife, Rosemarie; stepson, Orville Buzzaird; brothers, Russell, Lester and Harry; sister, Vivian Stockinger; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren. Service held in Texas.
