The September 11th attack
Continental uncertain of layoffs in Hawai'i

Advertiser Staff

A local spokeswomen for Continental Airlines said she did not know whether the 12,000 job cuts the company announced yesterday would affect employees based in Hawai'i.

Georgette Deemer, speaking on behalf of Continental, said the airline will announce details of its furlough plan later this week.

Deemer said any planned cutbacks at the airline would not affect it's Hawai'i flight schedule. It has a Honolulu-Mainland market of about 7,300 weekly seats.

Northwest Airlines officials could not be reached for comment yesterday on reductions in its flight schedule.

Northwest officials in a press release said the airline would complete its review of overall staffing this week.
