The September 11th attack
New FAA regulations

• Passengers must go to airport ticket counters to check their baggage. Curbside and off-airport check-ins are prohibited.

• Passengers should expect more identification checks, more screening with hand-held detectors and more physical searches of carry-on bags.

• Visitors will no longer be able to pass through security checkpoints to pick up passengers at gates.

• Reduced access to runways and other secure areas of the airport

• Knives and cutting tools, including pocket knives, are prohibited.

• Increased use of bomb-sniffing dogs or explosive detecting machine for checked bags

• Uniformed security officers will be assigned to airports.

• Airport-related employer and vendor IDs will be checked.

• All planes will be searched before passengers board.
