Trade Winds

• Bank of Hawaii has appointed six new vice presidents. They are: Rose Mary Grace, consumer recovery manager in Bank of Hawaii's Recovery Services, responsible for the administration of consumer and non-loan losses at the point of charge-off from Bank of Hawaii's active books; Scott Higashino, systems manager for Bank of Hawaii's Transaction Systems Department, who joined the bank in 1987; Lynn Hirashima, manager of Bank of Hawaii's Human Resources Staff Group-Advisory and EEO-Affirmative Action Department who joined the bank in 1972; Todd Jackson, construction and income property loan officer responsible for developing and consummating commercial real estate loan opportunities and managing a commercial real estate loan portfolio; Kaleo Kekoolani, Human Resources manager, responsible for the development and administration of compensation programs, including job evaluation, salary administration and short- and long-term incentive plan design; Martin Monahan, compliance officer for Pacific Century Investment Services, Inc., a subsidiary of Bank of Hawaii. He joined the bank in March and previously was with Bank of America, San Francisco.

Adelia Chung, CLU, ChFC, has been named 2002 Secretary of the Million Dollar Round Table. Her five-year term will culminate with the 2005 MDRT presidency. Chung, 43, is the first woman to be nominated to the MDRT Executive Committee. She is a 19-year Round Table qualifier with nine Court of the Table and five Top of the Table honors, designations reserved for producers who achieve the highest levels of production and service.

Lesley Matsumoto has been promoted to vice president and director at Belt Collins Hawaii Ltd., a planning, civil engineering, landscape architecture and environmental consulting firm. She will be responsible for planning and operations of the department, overseeing projects ranging from environmental planning to site investigations involving health-risk assessment.

John Moore has been appointed project engineer and on-site owner's representative for Maryl Group's most-recent projects, The Shops and The Villages at Mauna Lani, a 36 acre two-parcel project that will include residential and commercial components within the Mauna Lani Resort.

Carol Holden has been named customer support manager at SprintHawaii. She will be responsible for overseeing project management of all voice and data customer installations, revenue retention and growth, contract administration and account maintenance for select customer accounts.

• Kaua'i Visitors Bureau executive director, Susan Kanoho, has been named to "Travel Agent" magazine's exclusive 2001 list of the Most Powerful Women in Travel. She also made the list in 1999. The honor recognizes those who helped their company or the industry as a whole achieve a strategic goal or develop a new strategy.

• Verizon Wireless has named Albert Swierzy director, network system performance, for its Hawai'i region. In the role, Swierzy is responsible for the performance of the company's statewide network, including performance monitoring, design and optimization of the network. Swierzy will lead the Hawai'i network team in executing a $25 million network investment plan this year.

• "Science & Technology International" announced Adm. "Zap" Zlatoper has joined STI as a director of the board. Zlatoper, a Campbell Estate trustee, will use his extensive military and business experience to assist STI with its goal of creating technology to aid national defense. He is the former commander in chief of the U.S. Pacific Fleet and an experienced combat naval pilot.

• The Orchid at Mauna Lani has appointed Robert Schuster as manager of the 539-room resort. He will be responsible for overall hotel operations. He brings more than 23 years of professional hospitality experience to The Orchid. He attended Hotel Industry School Waldegg in Austria.
