• Almonds: This nut can be ground and used in exfoliating masks.

• Avocado: The flesh of this fruit can be pureed into a paste and used on its own as a mask for dry skin.

• Cornmeal: Its grittiness makes this product a useful exfoliant.

• Cucumbers: Slices placed over the eyelids can reduce puffiness and sooth tired eyes.

• Egg whites: When whipped until frothy and applied as a mask, they can help tighten mature skin or oily skin.

• Garlic: The cloves have antifungal properties, but they are potent, so only use a drop or so of oil in a mask to treat acne.

• Herbal teas: Add herbal teas to boiling water for a facial steam or steep them in boiling water. When cool, pour into a glass spray bottle and apply as a toner.

• Lemon: When added to masks, the acid in this fruit acts as a gentle bleaching agent and can reduce facial blotches.

• Oatmeal: When ground, it can be added to a mask to act as an exfoliant and to absorb excess facial oil.

• Raw honey: A natural antiseptic, it can be used in masks to heal blemishes or cuts.

• Strawberries: They are a mild astringent and can be ground, mixed with aloe or yogurt, and applied as a thin mask to combat oily skin.

• Yogurt: Contains living cultures that, when used as a base in masks or cleansers, can balance facial pH levels. It is very mild and can be used on sensitive skin.
