Patriotic items flying off shelves

Patriotism is everywhere. And crafts stores are at the center of what floral designer Janice Souser called "the craziness."
First, American flags disappeared from their shelves. Then the leftover Fourth of July pins vanished. "We sold out in about an hour," said Souser from Craft Supply of Honolulu. Darrell West, manager of Ben Franklin Crafts in Pearl City, confirmed that "just about every time the phone rings, we have people looking for flags." They, too, sold out.
Print out this ribbon and wear it to show your solidarity with others affected by last Tuesday's tragedy.
Janice Mancuso, a cashier at Market City's Ben Franklin Crafts, said people are making their own flags.
Then, of course, there's ribbon. Most popular are lapel bows. But wider ribbon, which customers can tie on cars or attach to front doors, also is a big seller. Said Mancuso, "Everybody's uniting in any way they can to get through this."
