Hawai'i raises $208,980 for September 11th fund

Hawai'i residents and organizations have donated $208,980 to The September 11th Fund, which was created to aid victims of terrorist attacks and their families.
The September 11th Fund, c/o Hawai'i Community Foundation, Pioneer Plaza, 900 Fort Street Mall, Suite 1300, Honolulu, HI 96813. Online donations may be made through the Web site for the Hawai'i Community Foundation. which is at www.hcf-hawaii.org
All contributions will go to relief effort, according to fund founders. The fund was created by the Hawai'i Community Foundation and the United Way in Hawai'i to respond to the terrorist acts of Sept. 11, 2001.
Make donations to:
People have been able to contribute at local banks and at Foodland and Star supermarkets. A portion of the fund will be set aside to assist local families affected by the terrorism. That help will be handled through Hawai'i nonprofit organizations.
Organizations that have donated to the fund include Alexander & Baldwin, Aloha United Way, Central Pacific Bank, First Hawaiian Bank, Hawai'i Community Foundation, Hawaiian Electric Industries Inc. (HEI) and Pacific Century Trust.
Organizations that are partners of the fund include 4Charity.com; Foodland Super Market Ltd.; Star Markets; American Savings Bank; Bank of Hawaii; Bank of the Orient; Central Pacific Bank; City Bank; Finance Factors; First Hawaiian Bank; Hawaii National Bank; HomeStreet Bank; Honolulu City and County Employee's Federal Credit Union; and Territorial Savings & Loan.
