BLOOD DONORS

• To give at the Blood Bank of Hawai'i, donors should call 845-9966 on O'ahu or 800-372-9966 for an appointment. Basic requirements: good health, 18 or older, at least 110 pounds, valid photo ID.

• Tripler Army Medical Center has scheduled extra blood drives over the next two weeks on all military installations on O'ahu. For the schedule, call the Tripler Blood Donor Center at 433-6195.


DONATIONS

• The state of New York has established a New York State World Trade Center Relief Fund to support the emergency response effort and victim assistance. Donations may be sent to New York State World Trade Center Relief Fund, P.O. Box 5028, Albany, NY 12205, or call 1-800-801-8092.

• The American Red Cross will accept money to help victims. Checks may be sent to the American Red Cross, 4155 Diamond Head Road, Honolulu, HI 96816. Checks should be made payable to "American Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund." Call 739-8105, contribute through www.redcross.org or call the toll-free number: 1-800-HELP-NOW (1-800-435-7669).

• Ala Moana Center, Pearlridge Center and Kahala Mall are serving as donation sites for the American Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund. Pearlridge will accept donations through Oct. 3, Kahala through Sept. 23.

• Honolulu Community College's Student Senate and Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society are collecting contributions for the American Red Cross and arranging donor appointments for a mobile blood bank that will be on campus Monday. A signup table will be outside the campus library from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. today.

• The Hawai'i Community Foundation, with Aloha United Way and community and financial institutions, has established "The September 11th Fund" to support victims.

• Donations can be made through American Savings Bank, Bank of Hawai'i, Bank of the Orient, Central Pacific Bank, City Bank, Finance Factors, First Hawaiian Bank, Hawai'i National Bank, HomeStreet Bank, Honolulu City and County Employees Federal Credit Union and Territorial Savings. Donations also can be made at Foodland or Sack N Save stores statewide, and will be matched as part of the stores' Give Aloha program. Donations can be mailed to The September 11th Fund, c/o Hawai'i Community Foundation, Pioneer Plaza, 900 Fort Street Mall, Suite 1300, Honolulu, HI 96813, or made online at www.hcf-hawaii.org.

• First Samoan Body of Christ Church will donate proceeds from a fund-raiser car wash Saturday to the Salvation Army for its disaster relief. The car wash will be at the Mililani Wal-Mart from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.

• Ask Aloha United Way is serving as a clearinghouse for services or information related to the Sept. 11 attacks. Call 275-2000 on O'ahu or toll-free 1-877-275-6569 from the Neighbor Islands.

• The Honolulu Fire Department and the Hawai'i Fire Fighters Association have arranged to accept donors' checks for The New York Fire Fighters 9-11 Disaster Relief Fund. Drop off checks any O'ahu fire station between 9 a.m. and 8 p.m. when the company is in quarters. Mail checks to the Hawai'i Fire Fighters Association, Local 1463 IAFF, AFL-CIO, 2305 S. Beretania St., Room 202, Honolulu, HI 96826.

• The Salvation Army is a main provider of services to rescue workers, and has had hundreds of other emergency food and aid vehicles and personnel on duty at the World Trade Center site.
