ALICE ANGELINA VERONDA, 85, of South Lake Tahoe, Calif., died Sept. 17, 2001. The mother of Advertiser reporter Walter Wright, she was an educator who began her career in a one-room schoolhouse in Honoka'a, Hawai'i. Later, after a move to California, she helped create an innovative cooperative nursery school that drew on parents as instructors and aides. In addition to her son, Walter, she is survived by a daughter, Lona; grandchildren, Kathy Wright, David Wright, Lori Roberts, James Roberts and Joseph Roberts; great-grandson, Henry Fanning.
