No bags to be allowed at Aloha Stadium

Aloha Stadium, site of the annual Pro Bowl, will adhere to NFL policy of not allowing fans to bring bags into the 50,000-seat facility, stadium spokesman Les Keiter said yesterday.

Earlier in the week, the stadium announced bags would be checked upon entry, but now fans will be asked to leave their bags at home or in their cars, Keiter said.

The security measure comes in wake of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks in New York and Washington, D.C. Stadiums nationwide have upgraded security by including a ban on bags.

"We're following policy of the NFL," Keiter said.

The first events to be affected are tomorrow's O'ahu Interscholastic Association Red Conference football game between Kahuku and Castle, and Saturday's Interscholastic League of Ho-nolulu doubleheader.

Meanwhile, the Maui Interscholastic League announced increased security at War Memorial Stadium for football games set for tomorrow and Saturday. The league said there will be a no re-entry policy at the 12,000-seat facility.
