Ex-Kailua athlete scores

Freshman Sarah Takekawa of Kailua scored two goals Wednesday to lead St. Mary's unbeaten women to a 3-0 soccer victory over Nevada in the Gaels' home opener at Moraga, Calif.

St. Mary's is 5-0, and Takekawa, a Kailua High graduate, has scored the winning goal in three of the victories.

Sophomore defender Chelsea Montero (Kamehameha '00) of Mililani and Takekawa have started all of St. Mary's games.


GOLF

• Wahine benefit: Entries are still being accepted for the ninth annual Na Aloha O' Wahine, a benefit for the University of Hawai'i Wahine basketball team.

The tournament will be played at noon on Oct. 2, at Waikele Golf Club.

Format is three-person modified scramble, with open and wahine flights. Cost is $435 per team or $145 per player.
