Gary Puckett, lead singer of the late-'60s group Union Gap, will perform at 8 p.m. today in the Coral Ballroom of the Hilton Hawaiian Village.

The concert, also featuring Hawai'i's Kapena and The Mana'o Company, is a benefit for the Hawai'i Fire Fighters Association.

"It's our major annual fund-raiser, six months in the planning," said a spokesman for the firefighters. The event is not specifically related to the fund-raising efforts in the community for the firefighters and police officers of New York, who lost their lives in the rescue effort following the terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center's twin towers.

Puckett & the Union Gap popularized such tunes as "Woman, Woman," "Young Girl," "Lady Willpower," "Over You" and "This Girl Is a Woman Now."

Doors open at 6:30 p.m.

Tickets: $25; checks may be made payable to the Hawai'i Fire Fighters Association. Reservations: 524-0707. Tickets also will be available at the door.

Information: 949-4321.

Also, Puckett and Kapena will perform in a benefit for Maui fire fighters at 7:30 p.m. tomorrow at the Maui Arts & Cultural Center. Tickets: $25. Information: (808) 879-2714.
